It’s important to note that violent crime comprises four offenses: aggravated assault, robbery, forcible rape, murder, and non-negligent manslaughter.
Theft of motor vehicles, arson, larceny-theft, and burglary are all examples of property crime. The stealing of money or property is the goal of theft-type offenses, but the victims are not threatened with or subjected to any physical force.
“Crime, particularly violent crime, is a multi-faceted challenge to the affected communities. Police are one factor in the entire process. We know we solve the majority of violent crimes because someone tells us who did it. We continue to focus our efforts on building relationships and trust in the community to ensure people feel they can be a partner with us in solving violent crime in our communities, thereby reducing future violent crime.”
